Patchouli essential oil Pogostemon cablin (Blanco) Benth.
bot. Pogostemon cablin
Patchouli essential oil is distilled from dried patchouli leaves. It possesses a mysterious, long-lasting aroma that people tend to either love or dislike, but once experienced, it is never forgotten. Thanks to its persistent and distinctive fragrance, patchouli has been used for centuries as a base note in perfumes and in incense. It is a rich, woody scent with smoky, earthy, and mossy undertones.
The history of European perfumery, as well as the culture of hippie and New Age movements, would be difficult to imagine without the scent of patchouli. To this day, patchouli remains one of the most important and widely used ingredients in perfumery, although synthetic substitutes or isolated patchoulol are often used instead. Authentic, full-spectrum patchouli oil, however, is highly valued in aromatherapy, natural perfumery, and for fragrancing homes and wardrobes.
“Light Patchouli Oil” refers to a higher-grade essential oil distilled in stainless-steel equipment. This prevents the formation of iron oxides during distillation, which can darken the oil to a deep brown color and reduce its stability—a common issue in some Indonesian distilleries.
“Heart Note Patchouli Oil” is obtained through fractional distillation and contains a higher proportion of the central aromatic fractions, particularly patchoulols, which contribute to its refined character.

Natural plant essential oils do more than simply smell pleasant. They bring a sense of connection to nature into our surroundings and help create a calm, harmonious, and biologically supportive atmosphere. Such an environment is especially appreciated by people living in cities who spend much of their time indoors, and it can play an important role in supporting the natural development of children’s emotional well-being.
