Lovage root CO2 extract Levisticum officinale Koch

Lovage Root CO2 Extract (Levisticum officinale Hill.) is obtained from the roots of lovage, an aromatic culinary herb that is also widely cultivated in Lithuania. All parts of the plant contain fragrant essential oil, which is rich in monoterpenes and their derivatives, terpenoids, as well as specific compounds characteristic of lovage – phthalides, which give the plant its distinctive aroma.

We offer a CO2 extract of lovage roots containing 50% essential oil. Lovage root essential oil contains approximately 64% ligustilides, while this CO2 extract contains around 40% ligustilides. In traditional sources, ligustilides are mentioned as compounds associated with various aspects of supporting balance and general well-being.

Ligustilides are also found in extracts of celery and Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis).

Lovage is one of the important herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
