A natural sponge is a marine organism that grows in oceans and seas, primarily in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean (this one is from Greece). It is neither a plant nor a synthetic product – it is a living organism belonging to a group of invertebrate animals called sponges (Porifera). They are harvested from the sea, dried, and used as gentle cleansing or hygiene tools. Unlike synthetic sponges, natural sponges are biodegradable, resistant to bacteria, and last longer.
