Clary Sage Essential Oil Salvia sclarea
Clary sage essential oil (Salvia sclarea) is especially appreciated by women for supporting a positive mood and sense of well-being throughout different stages of the menstrual cycle. Clary sage is also an important ingredient in perfumery, where it is valued as a natural fixative. Traditionally, sage has long been associated with supporting throat and vocal comfort.
In perfumery, it is one of the most popular ingredients in herbal, chypre, and cologne compositions. Its aroma is sweetly herbaceous with notes of dry hay, a bitter balsamic nuance, and evolving undertones of tobacco and black tea.
The principal constituents of our clary sage essential oil are linalyl acetate and linalool. Its characteristic aroma is shaped by sclareol, a low-volatility compound present in a small concentration (up to 0.5%) but of great aromatic importance. It blends beautifully with lavender, lavandin, and bergamot essential oils.
