Golden champaca absolute (Magnolia champaca, syn. Michelia champaca) is so exquisitely balanced that it can truly be described as a finished perfume in its own right—much like rose essential oil.

It is obtained from the magnificent golden blossoms of the champaca tree, renowned for their breathtaking beauty and divine fragrance. The absolute is deep orange in colour and reveals an exceptionally rich, oriental floral bouquet with luxurious sweetness, elegant spicy-tea nuances, and a delicate, long-lasting dry-down. In terms of perfumery sophistication, it truly rivals the finest rose oils.

In India, champaca is celebrated as one of the five arrows of Kama, the Hindu god of love. Champaca trees are deeply revered and are often planted near temples. Women traditionally weave champaca buds into their hair, allowing the blossoms to open gradually and release their exquisite fragrance throughout the day. In Buddhist countries across Asia, champaca flowers are regarded as worthy offerings to the Buddha, and Buddha statues are often adorned with garlands of these beautiful blooms.
