Labdanum Resinoid (ambery note) Cistus ladaniferus
Sweet, balsamic, smoky amber-scented labdanum extract.
Labdanum is the resin of the hairy rockrose (Cistus ladaniferus var. beta maculata). Rockrose is a perennial white-flowering shrub growing in the western Mediterranean region, particularly in Spain. To protect themselves from heat and intense sunlight, rockrose stems and leaves become covered with a sticky, fragrant resin called labdanum. This resin has been used since ancient times to produce aromatic extracts and was widely used in traditional medicine and perfumery; today, it is mainly valued in perfumery. Resin extracts are also known as resinoids.
English: common gum cistus, labdanum, laudanum; Italian: labando;
Spanish: jara, labando.
Besides its amber notes, this labdanum resinoid reveals smoky and tobacco nuances. It blends beautifully with woody and amber accords, adding roundness and sensual depth to chypre and oriental compositions, while giving rich floral accords warm amber-golden undertones.
Not suitable for use in ultrasonic diffusers or nebulizers.
